If you are aged 40 to 74 years and are not already on the chronic disease register, you may be eligible for a health examination. This checks that some of your body’s most important systems are running smoothly. There is criteria in place in order to be eligible to be invited for a health check and you will be contacted by the surgery if you meet the criteria.
If you are 75 years or over and do not attend the surgery for a regular review, our Health Care Assistants will check your blood pressure, weight, urine and talk to you about any health issues you may have. Please contact reception if you wish to book
Children see the Doctors as usual for illness advice. We also run a six week baby clinic for mother and baby on a weekly basis.
These are easily available during normal surgeries (please tell us when you book). Our Nursing Team is available to administer this test. Smears should be carried out every 3 or 5 years dependant on age. We also have an early morning smear clinic on Thursdays between 7.00am and 8.00am. You can also book smear appointments out of surgery hours to fit in with your work commitments. These are booked with GP Care Wakefield and are carried out at Pontefract General Infirmary and Trinity Health Centre in Wakefield. These can be booked by telephoning the surgery reception.
If the doctor requests a blood test this can be done by making an appointment with the phlebotomist and will be carried out here in the surgery. We also have a sit and wait blood clinic on a Tuesday which starts at 8.30am and finishes at 11.00am. No appointment is necessary. Please report to the reception desk on arrival to be added to the list for that clinic.
